Glommer.org is a small, independent social network — self-hosted, ad-free, and connected to the wider Fediverse.

You can write posts with rich text, images, video, polls, math, and hashtags; make friends and follow people; and talk in direct messages that can be end-to-end encrypted, so not even this server can read them. If you both happen to be in a thread at the same time, you can start a video call that runs directly between your browsers — call video never passes through the server at all.

This site speaks ActivityPub, the same protocol as Mastodon and much of the open social web. You can follow and be followed by people on other servers, and their posts and replies arrive here like anyone else's. Posts on Glommer are public by design.

There are no ads, no tracking, no algorithmic feed deciding what you see, and no investors to please. Your friends feed is just what the people you've added have posted, newest first. Trending topics are computed from public posts on this server, not bought.

The whole platform is open source — the code this site runs is public, and anyone can stand up their own server with it.

Accounts are free. Be decent to each other — the terms of service and privacy policy linked below say the rest.
