Settings and appearance

Open User Settings from your name in the top-right corner. It gathers everything about your account in one place:

• Change Password and Change Email - both ask for your current password to confirm it's you.
• Two-Factor Authentication - an extra step at login for security.
• Theme - change how the site looks (see below).
• Sensitive Media - always show media marked sensitive without opening its cover first (see Content warnings and sensitive media).
• Encrypted Messages - lock your conversations behind a passphrase.
• Email Digests - whether we email you what you missed after you have been away a while. On unless you turn it off (see below).
• Push Notifications - where the server has it set up, get notified on this device without the page open.
• Remembered Devices and Sessions - review where you're signed in, and sign out everywhere.
• Video Calling - check whether calls can work from this browser and network.
• Fediverse - follow accounts on other servers.
• Moving Servers - take your followers with you to an account elsewhere on the Fediverse.
• Delete Account - close your account for good.

Themes

The Theme picker restyles the whole site, and your choice is remembered. Choose Match System to follow whatever your device is set to, or lock in one of the built-in looks: Plain Light, Plain Dark, Sepia, Midnight, Sunset, Rose, Forest, Ocean, Lavender, Gold, Hacker, Ironbow, Viridis, Mako, Cividis, YlGnBu, Cubehelix, and Greyscale.

Email digests

If you have not visited for a week and something has happened while you were gone, we will email you once to say what. Never more than one a week, and never when nothing happened. Turn them off under Email Digests in Settings, or use the unsubscribe link in any one of them - that works in a single click, without signing in.

Forgotten your password and can't log in? Use the Forgot Password? link on the login page to get a reset link by email.
